Welcome to Noonkera

We are a Kenyan Community Based Organisation working to address the plight of pastoralist girls in danger of hostile and harmful traditional cultural practice

We focus on rescuing and assisting girls affected or in danger of FGM, child marriage, orphans and girls from very destitute backgrounds

The statistics

In Kenya, 92% of women and 88% of men aged 15–49 believe that FGM should be stopped, yet the practice still continues and is especially prevalent in pastoralist communities.

What drives us?

We envision a society in which the girl child is educated and empowered enough to make her own choices in regards to her personal, financial, economic and political status.

Our project activities involve-

Support our programmes

Facilitating girls education and livelihood skills
Counselling, mentoring and guidance
Organizing Alternative Rites of Passage (ARP) Ceremonies

“African women in general need to know that it’s OK for them to be the way they are – to see the way they are as strength and to be liberated from fear and from silence”.
